Wow. The year is already flying by. It seems like it was just 2009 and now we are here... 75 more busy days before our wedding and although its getting closer, it seems so far away. I have dreams about it almost nightly, so I guess... wait I know its on my mind... We are blessed to have such tremendous people in our lives. From the Weakley's doing our pre-marital counseling, to my stateside bridesmaids planning and getting things ready even though they are super busy with their lives, a maid of honor who is organizing the bach. party all the way from Japan, to awesome women who I aspire to take on their sweet traits (YEAH Mrs. Sheffield and Mrs. McHenry) who are planning another shower in Houston. We can only say that we are tremendously blessed. Thank you all. With 75 days down, we are sending in final payments, signing off on final designs and flowers, picking party music and preparing to send out invites... Woo-hooo. Marcus has been such a trooper and so helpful and patient with every aspect of planning... I mean what guy really has a preference on a shade of purple... But Marcus has truly contributed so much to our planning and listening to me vacillate about hair, make-up, the difference between lilac and violet... I digress... In preparation for being Mrs. Brock, my bach. townhome is once again on the market. We are praying that the perfect buyer comes and takes it so we can have a home just for the Brocks shortly.
We started a couples devotional that has been both challenging and rewarding and I totally suggest that all those with a significant other read it together. The Devotional is from the same people who wrote the movie "Fireproof". It challenges you daily to really love, not just your partner, but EVERYONE. Now those that have ridden with me know that my Houston girl driving attitude is not so bueno... Ever since the book has challenged us to love in all situations, I have had to really sit back and evaluate every reaction. Here is a quick example. This past week after the earthquake some people were making critical critical statements about Haiti and their suffering people. Well, Marcus was adopted from a Haitian orphanage and is 100% Haitian blooded. The things that were said were so harmful and hateful that they did not need to be repeated, but God told me to respond in love and ask for God to bless this person and soften his heart... Um, this is not what I wanted to say. I wanted to twist my kneck and calmly let him know who he was working with... But I did not, even when started making derogatory and racial statements... LORD BLESS HIM! Anywho, we are excited about the journey we are taking as a couple to love...
Lastly, today it has been 9 years since my good friend Dana Pettaway passed away. What a ministry her death was and continues to be. We continue to pray for peace and understanding for her friends and family, but I know she is so proud of her little brother and her friends. Gosh, I will always miss her, but she was an amazingly beautiful person inside and out so I know she is a glowing angel. :)
What a blessing it is to be in God's favor. Thank you to all of our friends for your love and support and get ready to party.
